Earlier in October we decided to take our son to the Shiloh National Battlefield in Tennessee for a home-school field trip. It has been about 15 years since I had last visited Shiloh during Boy Scouts. This year represents 150 years since the start of the Civil War. The battle of Shiloh took place over two days in April of 1862 at Pittsburg Landing on the Tennessee river.
We purchased the Audio-Auto Tour which takes you through the battle/sites in chronological order. It was a great chance to learn more about the battle and people who were involved.
Due to the rain I was not able to take many pictures in the early part of the day. This park is also home to the Shiloh National Cemetery, where over 3500 Union dead were re-buried after the war.
